Get Involved
We truly are the body of Christ in motion! We believe that when all parts work together in the name of Jesus, the body grows stronger. There are many different opportunities to get involved at Bethany. Members are encouraged to become active in the church by joining a committee, by participating in groups, or both. There is something for everyone, no matter what your age, you have a place at Bethany!
Sunday School
Our kids are very important to us! It is our goal to ensure that all kids have the tools they need to form a close relationship with God and it is our privilege to guide them in their spiritual journey.
At Bethany, we make learning about God fun! We offer an exemplary Sunday School program for all children ages Pre-K through 12th grade as well as a class for adults. Sunday School runs from 9:30 a.m to 10:45 a.m. every Sunday during the months of September thru May. For more information on Sunday School or to enroll your child in our program, please contact Larissa Lee at
Confirmation Classes
Confirmation classes are offered for children in 6-8th grade. Beginning in October, class meets every Wednesday at church from 4-5:15 p.m. All students are required to serve as acolytes during worship in the months that classes are held. Transportation by bus is available for the Grantsburg School District.
Church Council
Let your voice be heard! Take a seat on the church council and help to plan the future of the church. Members of the council are elected and entrusted by the congregation to ensure that operations function properly at Bethany and help to make important decisions regarding the church. Council meets the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7 pm.
Women of the ELCA (WELCA)
Women of Bethany prepare to be inspired! WELCA encourages all women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ and ready themselves for service, study, advocacy, fellowship, and more! Women of Bethany are placed into one of three smaller groups that represent the WELCA. Each group meets once per month for bible study and as a large group for a quarterly business meeting and program. The WELCA at Bethany chooses and raises funds for a new mission each quarter, either locally or globally, wherever the need may be. They sponsor a child through LPGM and just recently gifted the church with bibles in each pew and in the library. For more information on the mission of the national Women of the ELCA, click:
Youth Group
All children ages 7th thru 12th grade are invited to participate in Youth Group at Bethany! Being active in Youth Group allows kids to learn about their faith and offers a safe environment for them to grow a deeper relationship with God. The Bethany Youth Group meets after church on the 3rd Sunday of each month in the fall and as often as possible throughout summer months. We also offer fun outings to participate in during the year. Our focus is to not just have fun together but to have fun learning about God’s love for us and how we are called to be his disciples in the world.
Church Choir
If music moves your soul, consider joining the church choir and sing your praises to God! The choir performs weekly during worship in the months of September through May. They meet each Wednesday at church for practice from 6-7 p.m. The choir is always seeking new voices, no musical experience is necessary and all members 7th grade and older are invited to participate.
Joyful Noise Choir
The Joyful Noise Choir is a wonderful addition to our music ministry. Members of the congregation come together twice a year to perform music by singing and playing musical instruments. All ages and musical abilities are welcome to participate.
A dedicated and talented group of ladies, lovingly referred to as the Bethany “piece”makers, come together to take scraps of donated fabric, old curtains, sheets, and blankets and turn them into beautiful pieces of work. The bulk of the quilts are made during the months of January, February, and March when the ladies meet each Wednesday for a long day of sewing and fellowship. A few of the gals will continue to meet over the summer to sew tops, backs, and prepare the bundles for the upcoming quilting season. Each graduating senior receives a quilt, some quilts are kept at church for local folks in need, and the rest are sent to Lutheran World Relief to help on a global level. Bethany sent close to 200 quilts to LWR this year.
Several committees are in place to ensure that operations at Bethany keep running smoothly. These committees are filled with devoted people of the congregation who are committed to making a difference in their church home. Committees meet several times during the year and are always looking for new folks with new ideas! Check out the committees at Bethany below and see which one is right for you.
